Ramsdale named Premier League's best goalkeeper for March after stunning Bournemouth save
AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been named as the Premier League's best goalkeeper for the month of March. The 22-year-old Englishman was recognised for his stunning save in the Cherries' 2-2 draw with Burnley on February 22.
In the 66th minute of the game, Burnley striker Matej Vydra was through on goal and looked poised to score when Ramsdale came out to meet him. The Bournemouth shot-stopper made a superb one-handed save to deny Vydra, preserving his team's lead at the time.
Ramsdale's performances throughout March were also impressive, as he helped Bournemouth secure draws against Chelsea and Newcastle United, as well as a crucial win over Aston Villa. His efforts have helped the Cherries climb out of the relegation zone and give them hope of staying in the Premier League.
Speaking about his award, Ramsdale said: "It's a great honour to be named as the Premier League's best goalkeeper for March. I'm really pleased with my performances during the month and it's always nice to be recognised for your efforts."
He added: "The save against Burnley was one of the best of my career so far, so I'm glad it's been recognised as a standout moment."
Ramsdale will be hoping to continue his fine form as Bournemouth look to secure their status as a Premier League club for another season. With six games remaining, the Cherries sit just two points above the relegation zone and will need to pick up more points to ensure their safety.
However, with Ramsdale in inspired form, Bournemouth fans will be feeling confident that their team can avoid the drop and continue to compete at the highest level of English football.
